I’m not exactly pumpkin spice-crazy, but I do loved some autumn-spiced treats, like mulled cider. Flavored with orange, fresh ginger and whole nutmeg, this recipe is kid-friendly, perfect for a Halloween party and also a great way to enjoy the end of a chilly fall day.
If kids aren’t around spiced rum is optional and encouraged.
Hot Spiced Cider
serves 8
Ingredients
1/2 gallon fresh apple cider
1 large orange, sliced 1/4-inch thick
4-inch piece ginger, peeled and sliced lengthwise
5 whole nutmeg
Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, reduce to medium-low and let simmer for 20 minutes.
Ladle hot cider into mugs and serve warm.
