Crostini are great to have on hand for a party, perfect for serving plain alongside a dip or cheese. You can also top them with any number of your favorite ingredients. I like to toast crostini very lightly with hardly any color. These are another entertaining item you can make in advance.
Simple Crostini
makes 28 to 32 pieces
Ingredients
1 small baguette, about 12 inches long, thinly sliced
2 to 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Kosher salt
Preheat oven to 375 F.
In a large bowl combine baguette slices with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and one large pinch of salt. Toss well to lightly coat the slices with olive oil, adding more oil if necessary. Place baguette slices on a rimmed or half-sheet pan and bake until they turn light golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes. Once cooled, store crostini in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
